The BrainYard - Where collaborative minds congregate.
This past weekend my son received something called a "Webkin", a stuffed animal that comes complete with its own virtual world. You register your Webkin on their web site using its unique ID, and then you are free to create a virtual world for your creature, as well as interact with other Webkin owners. My son was quite excited to find that his Webkin could visit with other Webkinz, and he spent a good part of the day trying to see if he could find his friends on the site.
Social networking is now making its way into the under 10 members of society, who I'm guessing will grow up to always know social networks and virtual worlds in the same way that people of my generation we've always known television. I wonder what will be the next mass technology among "their" kids?
