Perhaps it's the inherent stickiness of maple syrup that has left Ken Miller unable to shake Malabar Farm State Park. Or maybe it's the Lucas, Ohio, park's charm. Ken, a project leader for MSC Engineered Materials & Solutions Group in Walbridge, Ohio, pens this week's Favorite Place.

"A maple-syrup festival is held at the state park the first two weekends in March. When we were young, my parents took me and my sister there several times.

The tour begins with a horse-drawn wagon ride, then volunteers dressed as Indians and pioneers demonstrate how maple syrup was first made. We would always leave with a couple of jugs of syrup.

For the past couple of years, my wife and I have taken our children to the festival. They look forward to it, and they're already asking about next year's visit."
