It's late January and the perfect time to long for hot summer days at the amusement park. Reader Michael Dominick tells us about his Favorite Place: Cedar Point amusement park.

I grew up in Ohio and Indiana and, for as long as I can remember, my family made a "pilgrimage" every summer to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. Located on a peninsula stretching out into Lake Erie and known as "America's Roller Coast" (currently at 14 coasters, with the 15th to open this summer), Cedar Point is the place to be and act like a kid--even if you're not one anymore. There's nothing better than the adrenaline rush from a 90-plus mile per hour coaster on a hot summer day. Add some good food, sugar-laced desserts, and a beach to crash on (after you eat too much), and I'm in heaven.

As I grew older, I went less with family and more with friends. But I kept going back to the sun, the water, the rides, and the fun. Even now that I've lived in California for almost seven years, I still manage to make it back to Cedar Point almost every year, if for only a few days, to celebrate friends and family and summer.
