General Motors Corp. will see its 10-year, master service agreement with EDS through to its June 2006 expiration despite reports over the weekend suggesting the automaker will terminate the multibillion-dollar IT services contract before the pact expires, a GM spokesman said Monday.

A Sunday Detroit News story said GM was looking to ink new IT services contracts ahead of the June 2006 expiration of the contract with EDS. GM's spokesman says the company is in the preliminary stages of planning for the deal's expiration but adds that GM has no plans to end its deal with EDS early.

Analysts say GM will most likely award new contracts to a handful of major IT services vendors. The group could include a combination of Accenture, EDS, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM Global Services.
