Gmail's latest new feature reminds us that we should take pleasure in the little things. Starting today, Chrome and Firefox users will be able to drag-and-drop files from their desktop and attach them to emails without using the clunky attachment tool. This is something I've been waiting for. Google already allows Gmail users to drop a picture file directly into the body of an email. Now it is doing the same thing for other attachments.

Files can be dragged from the desktop or open folders directly into a Gmail message. When a user drops the file, it is automatically added to the email as an attachment.

Before, Gmail users had to click on the "attach a file" link and use a file explorer to find whatever it is that they wanted to attach. No more.

I tested it out. It works perfectly.

It's not an earth-shattering new feature, but it makes life -- and Gmail -- just a little bit better.

It works with Chrome and Firefox 3.6 on both the Windows and Macintosh platforms.
