Today Google unveiled a new version of its Google Mobile application for the Windows Mobile platform. It has added several new features, including My Location, which returns locally relevant results to end users.Google has definitely been playing favorites with its Mobile applications, especially for the Android and iPhone platforms. Those two operating systems seem to get all the goodies before Google deigns others are worthy of its time. Today, Windows Mobile gets to feel special, as Google has paid it some kind attention.

The new Google Mobile application for Windows Mobile, which is a free download, offers a handful of new capabilities. First up is My Location. My Location -- once enabled -- automatically works with Google Search to return locally relevant search results based on a user's whereabouts. This means if you perform a search for "pizza", you're going to see the closest Pizza Hut, Dominos or Papa Johns, rather than Original Ray's in New York City. As always, My Location is optional, and Google says that end-user location data is encrypted and not shared.

Other new features include Google Suggest and Search with Maps.

As the name implies, Google Suggest will start to analyze what users are typing as they enter data and then work to offer suggestions to help users complete entering their queries faster. This means that by the time you type P-I-Z, Google will guess that you're looking for P-I-Z-Z-A and will show you that and other selections, which can be quickly chosen to take you to results ASAP.

Search with Maps integrates search results with Google Maps for Mobile. Google explains that users "type a local query and wait for suggestions. Select the suggestion with the red pin next to it to launch your search inside Google Maps." This makes finding exactly where things are just a wee bit easier.

The application is a free download from Google.
