Today Google finally made a version of its Mobile Search application available to the BlackBerry Storm and Storm2 handsets. The app includes useful features such as Voice Search and stored search history. It's a free download.Google's Mobile Search application is a great way to search for stuff form your mobile phone. There are dedicated versions of the application for most of the smartphone platforms out there, including Android, iPhone, and BlackBerries. Before today, the BlackBerry Storm and Storm2, however, were left out of the party. Google just delivered those handsets their invitation.
The new version of the application is specifically tailored for the Storms' touch screens, and it provides a much more useful way to search the web. One feature includes Voice Search. This lets users speak their search queries into the handset. Google then translates the text, searches the web for the content, and returns the results to the handset.
It also includes Google Suggest, which suggests search queries as you begin to type. For example, if I am searching for "pizza" Google will guess that's what I am searching for as I type P-I-Z and offer me a list of possible search terms. The application also stores search history, which can be access easily to retrieve previous search results.
The application is a free download for the BlackBerry Storm and Storm2. It is available in seven different languages and 20 different countries.
