Google has rolled out Google TV Ads, an advertising program that enables businesses to run a national television advertising campaign through the company's existing AdWords interface.According to Google, the advertising program -- which has been in private testing mode since last June -- makes running a TV ad campaign more accountable and measurable. As with the existing AdWords service, potential advertisers state the amount they're willing to pay and can use an online tool to see estimated costs of a proposed campaign. The program will also recommend where and when to place ads. Once the bid is accepted and the campaign starts, advertisers pay only if the ads run and receive a report on when and where they ran. For a limited time, Google is offering to cover the costs of producing an ad (up to $2,000) if advertisers hire a producer through the company's Ad Creation Marketplace.
So far, Dish Network is the only TV distribution company that as agreed to let Google install its tracking services, which means users of the TV Ads program will only be able to reach Dish's 14 million subscribers.CNET News, VentureBeat
