As part of its never-ending pursuit of perfection, Google has rolled out some updates to a few of its services. Gmail now has more themes, there are new tools to use when creating forms in Docs, and Google has more tips on how to be a Gmail ninja. If you aren't already using a theme for your Gmail account, it's worth taking another look. Google has been adding new themes for a while now and the selection is fairly decent. Today, Google adds four more.

The new themes are named Orcas Island, High Score, Turf and Random. The Orcas theme is a shot of the Pacific coast. The High Scores theme looks like it is straight out of a Nintendo game. Turf takes things down to the level of earthworms and ants. And the Random setting will switch up the theme every time you log into Gmail. I tried that one. It's a bit jarring, especially if it switches to a theme that you just don't like.

There is now a total of 35 themes from which to choose, or you can make one of your own.

Aside from the new Gmail themes, Google has also added new features to its Forms tool within Google Docs. Using the new tools, users can create forms such as a grid question.

Google has improved the way results summary charts work. It has added bi-directional language support. Google also added a sign-in so that organizations can better protect usernames and passwords. Docs users can also now pre-populate forms with specific parameters.

As for being a Gmail ninja, Google added more language support to its list of Gmail tips and tricks. It also added a number of new tips, most of which were suggested by users. A sampling of the new tricks include sending and receiving mail from multiple addresses, adding formatting to chat messages, and selecting multiple messages at once using shift-select.
