High school administrators in California are deploying wireless imaging technology to ensure that students are where they should be.

Officials at West Hills High School in Santee, Calif., began the school year by keeping a virtual eye on all who entered their campus.

West Hills is using cameras that feed password-protected images to the Internet so school staff and local police can access the images remotely. The pictures can also be transmitted wirelessly to handheld devices, which can be used by administrators and security staff on school grounds.

West Hills is falling in line with other schools in its district, which place a higher premium on school safety after shootings that occurred last year at Santana High in Santee and Granite Hills High in El Cajon.
