Bucking the rotten employment news that's become commonplace these days, Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group is looking to hire 19 applications-development specialists and managers by Sept. 1. The company is planning a face-to-face job fair and is also accepting applications online.Calling its enterprise applications "vital to the health and well-being of Dollar Thrifty," CIO Rick Morris said in a statement that "we have seen the need for more management oversight over critical functions in the applications-development area" and "we look forward to bringing in new expertise to oversee these critical functions." Morris was not available for an interview because the publicly traded company is in its quiet period before the release of its quarterly earnings.

Some perspective on the company behind the hiring: Dollar Thrifty offers rental cars in 70 countries under the Dollar and Thrifty brand names and has 6,800 employees, mostly in North America. Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the company describes its size as "Fortune 1000" and operates 700 corporate and franchised rental-car facilities in the U.S. and Canada.

Here are the titles for which Dollar Thrifty is hiring, followed in parentheses by the number of openings for each title: --Data Architect (1) --Data Systems Analyst (1) --Deployment Lead (1) --Domain Application Lead (3) --Service Delivery Director (2) --Senior Program Manager (2) --Senior Project Manager (3) --Technical Lead (5) --Test Lead (1)

Applicants can also apply online in two ways: by posting a resume' at www.dtag.com under the "Careers" tab, or by e-mailing a resume' to one of these members of the Dollar Thrifty HR team: --Michelle Migdat at [email protected] --Jennifer Shultz at [email protected] --Elizabeth Webb at [email protected]

And in these tough economic times when many employers have had to cut back on employee benefits, Dollar Thrifty is offering a pretty comprehensive package of benefits: --Medical, dental, and vision plans --Short- and long-term disability --Wellness incentive program --Health club benefit --Profit sharing --Health, life, and disability insurance --Paid Time Off --Employee Assistance Program --401k savings plan --Flexible spending accounts -Tuition reimbursement plan
