The extra features range from $1,000 to $10,000 per CPU. Z-Tel Technologies Inc., a residential-phone company in Tampa, Fla., plans to deploy its Web and voice-recognition applications on the HP server by spring of next year. HP won the Z-Tel contract over competitor BEA Systems Inc.
