One of the most impressive Windows Mobile 6.5 devices announced in recent months, the HTC HD2, sports a massive 4.3-inch touch display and is powered by a speedy 1GHz Snapdragon processor. If you were worried it would only be available in Europe, rest easy. Today, HTC confirmed that this powerful device is headed to a major U.S. carrier. There's no doubt that the HD2 is the most impressive piece of hardware to come from HTC. The specs speak for themselves, but holding it in your hand is another story. The quality of the design and manufacturing is superb. Combine a well-spec'd and well-made phone and you have a real winner.

The HD2 features a 4.3-inch touch display that measures 480 x 800 pixels. To say that it looks amazing would be an understatement. The device runs Windows Mobile 6.5 and incorporates HTC's TouchFLO 3D. The 1GHz Qualcomm-made Snapdragon processor that's under the hood means the device absolutely flies. It is the most responsive and capable Windows Mobile smartphone I've ever used.

HTC was coy about who will sell the device. It would only commit to a "major U.S. carrier." It's really a toss-up as to which carrier that will be. It's easy to think that either AT&T or T-Mobile is a natural fit due to the GSM radios already built into the HD2. But you never know. HTC could have a CDMA version for Sprint or Verizon in the works.

The device should hit the U.S. market early in 2010. It's available in European markets starting today.
