Acting as an extension of IBM's India Research Lab (IRL) in New Delhi, the new lab will be staffed with experts distributed computing, software engineering and knowledge management.
Bangalore, India — IBM Corp. today opened a new research center here that will focus on developing innovative technologies and solutions, acting as an extension of IBM’s India Research Lab (IRL) in New Delhi. The IRL is one of eight such labs the corporation has worldwide.
The new center here will have on its rolls researchers from distributed computing, software engineering and knowledge management and will be headed by Guruduth Banavar.
“This initiative is a major step by the IRL in playing a critical role in delivering innovations to IBM and its clients. The IRL in India has evolved as a center for deep scientific research and development of innovative business solutions, said P. Gopalakrishnan, director, IRL.
IBM already has several software development centers in India, employing over 20,000 engineers and is now in the process of scaling up these centers.
