I haven't listened to FM radio in years, at least, not since 92.3 WXRK in New York City shifted its format from modern rock several years ago to talk and then to who knows what. Even so, FM (and AM) radio still serve a great purpose. In fact, I am pretty sure people still listen, at least when in their cars.
Users have cried for an FM radio in the iPhone since it was first introduced. Personally, with applications such as Slacker and Pandora out there, I have all the avenues to discover new music that I need. Even so, according to an anonymous source cited by 9to5mac, Apple it set to introduce an FM radio application for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
It will be similar in function and features to the FM radio that is built into the newer iPod Nanos. Some potential features that might be included are the ability to pause live FM and direct integration with the Mobile iTunes Music Store. This would let users purchase songs they've heard on the radio through iTunes. Neat stuff. Even if I won't use it, I say bring it, Apple.
Busted Jailbreaking
This one is pretty interesting. iPhones have been hacked from day one. According to iClarified, a site that provides info on how to hack and modify iPhones, all the iPhones 3GS devices that have shipped starting with last week have a new boot ROM that pretty much makes hacking -- a.k.a., jailbreaking -- the iPhone impossible.
iBoot-359.3.2 completely blocks all the current known jailbreaking tools. In order to hack these newer iPhones, developers will have to approach the devices from an entirely new angle.
Apple draws another line in the sandbox.
