Hewlett-Packard this week will launch software upgrades and services aimed at companies that want to use existing IT assets more efficiently. Utility Data Center will combine networking equipment and utility-controller software for designing, provisioning, and billing IT resources for data-center applications. Upgraded OpenView Integrated Service Management software will be better able to determine the availability and performance levels of IT systems. OpenView Internet Usage Manager will provide new billing and business-intelligence capabilities. All will be available by the second quarter of next year.
