The most robust infrastructure can't help a company if corrupt data is unleashed throughout the network. If nobody notices, incorrect information could cancel deals, inhibit operations, and damage a company's reputation.

Metagenix Inc. hopes to give companies reason to give thanks with this week's unveiling of its MetaPure data quality-auditing product, which it expects to ship in January. Pricing isn't set yet. Targeting any customers running apps such as CRM or ERP, Metagenix chooses to let other tools monitor and send alerts for the servers, routers, and storage. MetaPure will let administrators analyze business processes and audit data for signs of trouble.

Administrators set up rules that can have MetaPure conduct continuous checks of data quality, generate real-time status reports, and safeguard intrusion across silos of other management tools. Industry analyst Robert Lerner at Current Analysis thinks competition will be the toughest thing for Metagenix as it goes up against Ascential, Group 1, and Trillium Software. Says Lerner, "But as long as customers don't want to go chasing after fires, MetaPure is a nice way to know that a CRM app can be executed because it's already been cleared."
