Lenovo announced Thursday a pair of new ThinkPad notebooks that it claimed can run 11-hours without a charge when equipped with a second battery.

The T60 and X60 models, said Lenovo, draw 37 percent less power than previous ThinkPads because they're based on the power-saving Intel Centrino Duo package that includes the Core Duo processor and the Mobile 945 chipset.

The Core Duo is Intel's newly announced dual-core processor for laptops, and is the successor in the chip-maker's line to the popular Pentium M.

To get the 11 hours of run-time, the ThinkPads must be equipped with an optional secondary battery.

Other features of the new notebooks, which will ship in February, include optional support for Verizon's BroadbandAccess WWAN network, anti-shock hard drives, and an updated version of Access Connections, Lenovo software for managing all data connections, from wired and wireless and wireless WAN.

The ThinkPad T60 takes the scales at 4.1 pounds, and is priced at $2,049 and up. The X60, meanwhile, starts at $1,899.
