Two months after Apple Computer began shipping MacBooks with Intel Penryn Core 2 Duo processors, the company is looking into complaints about flickering video and graphics corruption. The problems are affecting 13-inch MacBooks and 15-inch MacBook Pros. Users say the flickering occurs in any area of their laptop screen where animation or screen refresh is involved, and is particularly pronounced when watching videos -- especially Flash or QuickTime videos in a Web browser. Graphics corruption occurs when scrolling documents or Web pages, and is most pronounced in Apple Web kit-based applications such as Safari and Mail, they say.

So far the matter appears to be software-based; some users say they began detecting an issue after Apple's second security patch (Mac OS X 10.5.2) for the Leopard operating system released in mid-February.APC Magazine, Apple Insider
