Two months after announcing its general availability, Microsoft has updated its Windows Home Server operating system to ease remote file access and automate data backup.Power Pack 1 will also allow users running the 64-bit versions of Vista and Windows XP to connect to their home servers, according to CNET News.com. In addition, it adds support for the Chinese and Japanese languages.

Takeup for Windows Home Server?Microsoft?s core server product for the networking needs of home-office and small-business users?has been better than expected, though expectations were tame from the get-go, according to Forrester Research.

The software update will be available as a free download for existing Home Server users in the first half of 2008.CNET News.com
