Motorola has since pulled the spec pages that it accidentally published on Thursday, but not before most details of the Droid 2 Global were gleaned from Motorola's servers.

The most interesting feature of the Droid 2 Global is the listed 1.2GHz processor. Most of today's high-end Android devices are running 1GHz processors. The Droid 2 Global would be one of the first to ship with such a fast processor.

Motorola didn't indicate whether the processor is made by Qualcomm or Texas Instruments. The original Droid 2 has a 1GHz OMAP processor from TI.

The other stand-out feature of course is the Droid 2 Global's global roaming capabilities. It can access Verizon Wireless' CDMA EVDO Rev. A 3G network in the U.S., and roam onto the WCDMA/HSPA 3G networks in countries across Europe.

It will support Verizon's Mobile HotSpot feature, which will allow up to five other Wi-Fi devices to access the Internet through the Droid 2's data connection.

The Droid Pro, officially announced this week by Motorola, is the first CDMA/GSM Android handset, and the Droid 2 Global would be the second. This is an appealing feature for business users who travel often.

Beyond these differences, most aspects of the Droid 2 Global are similar to the Droid 2. It has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, Android 2.2 Froyo with Adobe Flash Player Mobile 10.1, Exchange support, and 8GB of internal memory (expandable up to 40GB with a microSD card).

It has 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, GSP, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Motorola's web site didn't provide any information about when the Droid 2 Global might be made available, nor what it would cost. My guess is it will appear before the holidays for about $200 on contract.
