MANHASSET, N.Y. — Motorola Inc. has made a strategic equity investment in Global Locate, a privately-held GPS semiconductor, software, and services provider.Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.Founded in 1999, Global Locate (San Jose) provides A-GPS technology to the mobile wireless industry. Their host-based semiconductor solutions bring IndoorGPS technology to a full spectrum of mobile wireless devices, including handsets, smartphones, PNDs, two-way radios, and automotive applications.Global Locate's network products include the World Wide Reference Network (WWRN), a source of high availability GPS assistance data as well as an A-GPS Server, a standards-compliant software kernel licensed by network equipment vendors for their core network products."Global Locate is a compelling addition to our portfolio of cutting-edge technology investments," said Warren Holtsberg, corporate vice president, equity investments, Motorola, in a statement.
