NCR Corp. joined the growing list of vendors offering consulting and services designed to help retailers use radio-frequency-identification technology on Friday when it launched its RFID Store, a services offering that includes consulting, design, integration, installation, maintenance, and support.

NCR, well known for its retail point-of-sale systems, will help companies assess how RFID can help their organizations, model an RFID implementation, pilot the technology, and install and maintain it.

NCR is a founding member of EPCglobal, a joint venture between EAN International and the Uniform Code Council that's guiding development of RFID standards in North America. NCR also operates its Retail Technology Management Center, which creates and tests RFID proof-of-concept prototypes, including options for protecting consumer privacy.

Several other companies offer RFID consulting and services, including Acsis, GenuOne, IBM, International Paper, RedPrairie, and Sun Microsystems.
