The publication also reported Thursday that TiVo Series 3, TiVo HD, and TiVo HD XL recorders will be able to stream Netflix video. Netflix and TiVo planned to begin testing the service in several thousand U.S. homes immediately and follow-up with an expanded rollout in December, according to the report.
In addition to the recently announced formats, Netflix subscribers can access video through computers, television sets with Netflix-ready devices, and disk players.
Netflix offers subscriptions for as low as $9 per month. The company offers instant streaming and rentals. It counts more than 8 million subscribers and 55 distribution centers in the United States.
