Netgear has introduced five new networking and storage products aimed at small and midsize businesses.The storage solution is a small form factor ReadyNAS network attached storage (NAS) device in three sizes: 1.5 TB, 3 TB, and 6 TB. They can support up to 200 Windows, Mac, or Linux users and support several levels of RAID. The box can hold up to six hard drives and comes with three USB ports and Gigabit Ethernet. Prices start at $2,000.
The company also introduced the ProSafe 802.11n Dual Band Wireless Access Point. Management is through the ProSafe Control Center Web-based interface or via MIB using network management software. It costs $475.
Finally, Netgear offers three new Gigabit Smart Switches, two with 24 ports and one with 48 ports. According to Vivek Pathela, Netgear's vice president of product marketing, the expansion of the ProSafe Gigabit Smart Switches targets mid-sized businesses that are growing at a steady pace and require advanced management features. They cost $575, $925, or $1,665 and are available through VARs, e-commerce sites and direct marketers.
