Indicative Software Inc. is shipping the latest release of its IT management software with added capabilities to monitor Windows and Java apps.

System administrators use Indicative to monitor and manage IT hardware and software such as E-mail. The system uses built-in templates with information about components of IT systems to help reduce implementation times. The release, Indicative 6.0, includes new templates and performance metrics for monitoring Windows systems. Other new templates monitor the availability and performance of Java 2 Enterprise Edition applications, including PeopleSoft Inc. and Siebel Systems Inc. apps.

The Los Angeles County government recently installed an earlier version of Indicative to manage its several dozen Hewlett-Packard Unix servers and to monitor the IT department's compliance with service-level agreements. "It was easily installed, easily implemented," says Ellen Grun, a technical specialist in the IT department.

Typical implementations of the Indicative system are priced starting at $50,000 in small and midsize businesses and $100,000 for installations in larger companies.
