A service manual for LG's yet-to-be-announced Nexus 5 handset leaked over the weekend, revealing most of the smartphone's specifications. Much of the information could have been guessed, but LG loaned the leak some weight by requesting that the information and accompanying images be removed.

The details, published by Android Police, more or less confirm that the Nexus 5 will be a variant of the LG G2. Android Police has removed the images and service manual from its website, but the specifications have been widely re-published by other sites.

According to the documents, the Nexus 5 will feature a 4.95-inch, full HD display. LG uses in-plane switching LCD panels in its devices, and the Nexus 5 will be no different in that respect. It's curious, however, that the screen is a bit smaller than the G2's 5.2-inch display. Either way, it is good to see that the Nexus 5 will make the jump to 1080p HD.

Like the G2, the Nexus 5 will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with four cores, each clocked at 2.3 GHz. The processor will be paired with 2 GB of RAM. It appears that N5 will be offered with 16 GB or 36 GB of internal storage. This is a marked improvement over the Nexus 4, which was offered with either 8 GB or 16 GB.

Disappointingly, the Nexus 5 loses the G2's 13-megapixel camera. Instead, it substitutes an 8-megapixel main shooter with optical image stabilization. Nexus devices have, to date, had mediocre cameras. We can only hope the N5's camera makes an improvement over the N4's 8-megapixel camera. The Nexus 5 will also have a 1.3-megapixel user-facing camera for video chats.

The Nexus 5 will include a handful of sensors, including accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, proximity/ambient light and pressure. It will use a micro SIM card and boasts a 2,300-mAh battery (probably unremovable). The device will include a notification light, and will support both wireless charging and NFC.

As for connectivity, the Nexus 5 will come with dual-band Wi-Fi, and, for the first time, support for LTE 4G networks. The spec sheet lists Bluetooth 3.0, but this is likely an error. Android 4.3 includes Bluetooth 4.0 at its core. The Nexus 5 is expected to be the first smartphone to run Android 4.4 KitKat, and it's hard to imagine that Bluetooth 4.0 would be pulled from the operating system.

It is worth noting that the leaked user manual is a draft. That means things contained therein could change before the manual, and the phone, are finalized. Google has not yet indicated when it might announce the Nexus 5, but it is widely expected to be revealed before the end of October.
