Opera Mini was just approved by Apple to show up in the app store and it has already become the most popular free download, surpassing one million downloads in a day. The server does the heavy lifting of pulling down high bandwidth sites and rendering them in a lower bandwidth page for your phone, all the while minimizing the impact on the processor and device performance. This means you get faster performance for free basically.

It also has a few features that Safari lacks. When you search, Opera Mini will highlight the search terms on the page allowing you to cycle through them on the page rather than having to scroll manually searching for them. This is handy on a desktop machine but almost essential on a phone's screen when it is a large page. It also allows 10 tabs and has a tab preview page.

One big advantage Opera Mini has over Safari is any video is supported, even Flash on sites like YouTube. This is because the video is rendered on the server and sent to the device.
