Picking Academy Award winners once the nominees have been announced isn't all that tough. A true test of film savvy is being able to pick the nominees!

We're rolling out the red carpet for your guesses in a few categories. Act fast, as the real nominations come out Feb. 12. E-mail [email protected] by Friday, Feb. 8, with your five picks in each of these categories: best picture, director, actress, and actor. Type only "Oscar" in the subject line to be considered.

The respondent with the most correct answers will win a prize; if there's a tie, we'll pick a winner randomly.

We'll publish the results Feb. 25 and see how film-savvy our readers are when the Academy Awards airs March 24. To see a list of 2001 releases, go to http://us.imdb.com/Sections/Years/2001.
