Verizon Communications asked a federal court last week to halt enforcement of a ruling that ordered the company to identify a subscriber who record companies claim illegally shared music. Verizon wants to avoid turning over the subscriber's identity while it pursues an appeal, which John Thorne, Verizon's senior VP and deputy general counsel, says the company would file this week. "We're going to use every legal means available to protect the privacy of our subscribers."
