The Revolution Health Group, launched this summer by America Online co-founder Steve Case, has acquired several startups and has made equity investments in others as part of its goal to unleash a consumer-oriented health portal and other services next year.

Revolution Health is one of three new business groups that are part of Revolution LLC, which Case unveiled in April. The other two groups focus on resort management and lifestyles, which, like health care, are ripe for "disruptive change," according to the company.

Among the company's recent acquisitions are MyDNA Media, which offers health news and information; 1-800-Schedule, which helps consumers find doctors and schedule appointments; Simo Software, a developer of software that lets consum-ers manage their health-care spending and records; and Wondir, a provider of a community-based search service for information about health-care needs and issues.

Revolution Health also bought a controlling interest in Extend Benefits LLC, which provides individual-benefits systems to large companies, and ConnectYourCare Inc., a provider of health-care information systems, tools to manage health savings accounts, and other online services. "As we move down the road," says Terry Hunter, CEO of ConnectYourCare, "we will change the consumer experience in health care."

The board of directors at Revolution Health is filled with well-known people from business and government. It's chaired by Case, and other members include former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, for- mer Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, former Netscape CEO Jim Barksdale, former Oxford Health Plans CEO Steve Wiggins, and former Fannie Mae CEO Frank Raines.
