RIM Shows Off PlayBook On Video Once AgainRIM Shows Off PlayBook On Video Once Again
Research In Motion has published another video that demonstrates the capabilities of its forthcoming PlayBook tablet. The video features a deep dive into the browser's performance.
Late last year, RIM published a video that pitted the PlayBook against Apple's iPad. The purpose of that video was to showcase how the PlayBook performs when it comes to rendering Flash and other content on web pages. In the video, the PlayBook handily beat the iPad in most of the tests.
That wasn't enough for the RIM faithful, who demanded more.
The new video is, in part, a response to the previous video. RIM explains, "When we posted theBlackBerry PlayBook vs. iPad comparison video, many Inside BlackBerry readers posted comments suggesting a variety of different websites they'd like to see on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and we took that to heart in our new video."
"Our good friend Matthew from the web browser group at RIM is back as well, demonstrating rich web video content using both HTML5 and Adobe Flash, and social networking with Facebook Chat, Facebook Flash games and viewing embedded content in your News Feed."
In the video, you'll see just how well the PlayBook handles content in the browser. It is truly impressive (even though we don't know all the parameters used for this test). I have to ask why RIM isn't showcasing actual business or enterprise applications. So far, all RIM has done is to pitch the PlayBook's browser, even though it is being billed as an enterprise device. Where's the wicked email app, the insane calendaring app, the integrated contacts/social networking apps? RIM is keeping those hidden for now.
RIM's PlayBook is sure to make a big splash at CES this week in Las Vegas.
Here's the new video, followed by the older video.
