The latest version of Apple Computer's Safari browser become available Tuesday for Mac and Windows users, while Microsoft's Windows Vista Service Pack 1 will make its debut Wednesday.Safari 3.1 can be downloaded for free from Apple's Web site. The browser supports the new video and audio tags in HTML 5, CSS Animations and CSS Web Fonts. According to Apple, Safari 3.1 loads Web pages and runs JavaScript faster than the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox and other browsers.

Over at Microsoft, Vista SP1 for the Ultimate and Home Premium editions will be available Wednesday, according to a listing on Amazon.com, which is taking preorders. The package of updates is expected to include fixes to avoid incompatibilities with some applications as well as better reliability, security, and performance.Macworld, CNET News
