According to research and planning company Evans Data Corporation (EDC), Microsoft's rich Web platform Silverlight will nearly triple its market share over the next year and a half.John Andrews, president and CEO of Evans Data, said, "Flash is the incumbent, the leader," Andrews said. "If you look at Flex, AIR, Silverlight and Eclipse RCP, all of them have smaller market share. But if you look at the next 12 to 18 months, they just about double their current market share. And interesting enough, Silverlight almost triples." Flash, Flex, and AIR are all Adobe technologies, while Eclipse RCP is open source.
