COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Small Tree Communications Inc. has gained another partner in marketing networking solutions to the Macintosh OS X community. Foundry Networks Inc. will combine its FastIron Ethernet switches with Small Tree's multiport Gigabit Ethernet cards to design enterprise graphic-arts networking solutions for small businesses using environments like Final Cut Pro.

The deal is the first joint marketing pact linking Foundry and Small Tree. The two companies also will use the BlazeFS file system software introduced by Small Tree last year.

Small Tree also announced a second round of Defense Dept. funding, in two grants for fiscal 2007 totaling $6 million.

As with last year's $3.4 million grant for battlefield communications, this year's grants were won with the help of Wisconsin Rep. David Obey, who represents Small Tree's headquarters city of Chippewa Valley, Wi. One grant for $4 million will continue Small Tree's work on advanced command, control, and communications for battlefield environments, while a separate $2 million grant will be for developing a tactical bandwidth booster for wireless clients, moving clients to stream-based packet communications.
