Why is America losing the accounting wars? Outdated software? Slow servers? Legacy reporting systems? Wake up, people. It's because our business schools don't teach students how to add columns of numbers as quickly and accurately as the young woman in this video clip from Japan.

Clearly, this young lady has been groomed for arithmetical glory. She's been trained in a special accounting facility, fed superfoods to keep her digits limber, and she slumbers on a bed of soft unicorn down.

That's the Japanese way. They recognize superb talent, and nurture it to its natural limits. It's why Japan leads the world in sumo wrestling and it's why they are eating our lunch in A/P.

Watch her smoke the other calculator lady in a one-on-one mad tally-off. Gasp as she rocks that Casio eight-digit handheld and becomes the pride of her prefecture. Later she bedazzles us by running the numbers using two calculators and both hands.

OK. That last one was a little show-offy. Still, I'm in awe of her mad calculatin' skillz.
