Sony Ericsson on Tuesday introduced a stylish handset it said can keep users organized while still keeping them entertained.
The G705 is a slider phone, and it has a 2.4-inch screen with sensors that automatically rotate the screen depending on how the user's holding the phone. The handset features multiple connectivity options with integrated Wi-Fi, EDGE, and 3G capabilities that can get up to 3.6 Mbps. Customers can use these to browse the Web, receive push corporate e-mail, and read RSS feeds.
As part of a partnership with Google, the handset features deep integration with some of the search company's offerings. One example is a Google shortcut key, which allows the user to go to Google from the idle screen with one key press.
Sony Ericsson's latest handset also has assisted GPS, which can be used in conjunction with Google Maps for navigation. Additionally, the phone has built-in hands-free controls, an organizer, Bluetooth version 2.0, and voice memo functions.
The handset can play multiple types of audio and video, and it has a built-in FM radio. Customers can use the G705 to watch YouTube videos on the go, as well as play 3-D games.
There's a 3.2-megapixel camera that can be used for pictures and video, and it comes with a flash. On-board software allows the user to edit photos on the handset, as well as upload content directly to online sharing sites like YouTube and Flickr.
The device measures 3.7 inches by 1.8 inches by 0.5 inches, and weighs about 3.5 ounces. The G705 will be available in selected markets in the fourth quarter, and a version for the Americas will be released in the first quarter of 2009.
