Analysis software maker SPSS Inc. (SPSS-Nasdaq) reported a $10.6 million loss on sales of $48.2 million for its fourth quarter, ended Dec. 31. That compares with a $3.8 million loss on sales of $38.6 million for the quarter a year ago. The loss includes charges for the acquisition of NetGenesis Corp., royalty adjustments from acquiring ShowCase Corp., and layoff-related expenses. For the year, SPSS reported a $21.2 million loss, compared with net income of $5.9 million in the prior year.
