The Pittsburgh Steelers have welcomed new investor John Stallworth, best known as a Hall of Fame wide receiver who helped the team win four Super Bowls during his 14-year career. Less well known is that Stallworth, near the end of his NFL career, started an IT services company that he sold in 2006 for $69 million. Two years before retiring from the NFL, Stallworth founded Madison Research, which his web site describes this way:

MRC specialized in providing engineering and information technology services to government and commercial clients. MRC customers included the Department of Defense, all military services, the Department of Energy, NASA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and other Federal agencies. Commercial clients included several well-known Fortune 500 companies.

As the President and CEO of MRC, John provided overall leadership, directed strategic planning, and established corporate goals and objectives. Under his leadership, MRC grew to over $65 million in revenue with employees and offices in 35 locations throughout the United States.

In August 2006, Stallworth sold his company for $69 million, and used some of those proceeds to start his current investment firm, Genesis II. Madison Research was acquired by Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc., in October 2006 and became Madison Research Division of Kratos.

The Kratos site said MRC is now part of the larger Kratos Government Solutions Group and provides products and services to state, federal, and local governments.
