T-Mobile announced Monday it would be offering the Motozine ZN5 for $99 with a two-year contract.
Motorola and Kodak introduced the ZN5 in June and the candy-bar phone boasts many features for shutterbugs. It packs a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, xenon flash, and optimized settings for low-light environments.
The cameraphone will also come preloaded with Kodak's Easy Share Software, which will enable users to organize, edit, store, share, and find mobile pictures. A user will be able to take pictures in multiple capture modes, including a panorama mode that automatically stitches together continuous shots in a single extended image. To store these large photos, the handset will come with 350 MB of internal memory, and that can be expanded up to 4 GB via the microSD slot.
The ZN5 also has integrated Wi-Fi to make uploading pictures quicker, as well as sending and receiving e-mails. Some customers may be turned off by the lack of 3G connectivity, but the handset can use an EDGE connection for surfing the Web on the go. The cameraphone does have Bluetooth version 2.0, a built-in organizer, and voice recording capabilities.
Motorola said the ZN5 has been optimized for multimedia, and it features a built-in MP3 player, FM radio, TV-out capabilities, and it has a standard headphone jack. The handset also has CrystalTalk Technology and the 2.4-inch screen is capable of displaying 240 x 320 resolution.
For T-Mobile, snagging the ZN5 is another move toward offering unique handsets to draw in new customers. Recently, the fourth-largest U.S. wireless carrier launched the G1, the first handset to feature Google's Android operating system.
