SpeechWorks International Inc. last week launched Speech2go, a speech-recognition engine that wireless manufacturers can embed in their mobile devices, letting users talk to their applications. Sales-force professionals who run wireless customer-relationship management software can check the status of an account by speaking into a mobile device powered by the Speech2go engine, for instance. Texas Instruments plans to offer the engine in its wireless application-processing platform used by 60% of all cell phones in the United States.
