Tech stocks fared the best, with heavy-hitters such as Microsoft and Yahoo seeing small to modest gains in value. The information 100 closed up 1.39 points, or 0.61%, at 228.98 Friday, but was down 0.39% for the week. The Nasdaq index closed up 2.45 points, or 0.17%, but was down 1.8% for the week. The Nasdaq-100 Index tracking stock was unmoved at $28.09, but was down 2% for the week.

The Dow Jones barely moved Friday, closing up 7.36 points, or 0.09%, but was down 0.9% for the week. The S&P 500 was up 1.35 points for the day, or 0.14%, yet closed down 1.1% for the week.
