Toshiba has introduced an ultrathin laptop that weighs less than Apple's MacBook Air and Hewlett-Packard's Voodoo Envy 133, which was announced last week.The 2.4-pound Portege R500 series, which is 0.77 inches thick at its thinnest point, includes a 128-GB solid-state drive and DVD drive. The notebook runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo U7700 low-voltage processor, has a battery life of eight hours and features a 12.1-inch, backlit light-emitting diode display for indoor and outdoor viewing. The Portege R500 series, which starts at $2,999, also comes with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless support.
