Microsoft has published a list of software that either won't launch or won't run on Vista with next month's Service Pack 1 installed. The list tends toward security products, including Zone Alarm Security Suite 7.1, Trend Micro Internet Security 2008, and BitDefender AV 10. In most cases, a compatible version of the software is already available from the vendor's Web site.

The biggest effect may be on Vista's acceptance in the marketplace. Joseph Sweeney, an analyst at Intelligent Business Research Services, said that Vista is already plagued by a perception of incompatibility with old systems. Any problems with SP1, he said, would only make those perceptions worse and could further delay the adoption of Vista by companies who had been waiting for the service pack before migrating.CNET News, PC Pro
