Four new motherboard manufacturers will be embedding VMware's ESX server virtualization software in their products, making it easier for small and midsize businesses to adopt the technology.The embedded virtualization technology, known as ESXi, will be available on servers or motherboards from ASUSTeK, Gigabyte Technology, Inventec, and the Tyan division of Mitac International. These companies join Dell, Fujitsu, HP, IBM, NEC, and Super Micro as sources for servers with the virtualization software built in.

Ben Matheson, senior director of product management at VMware, said that the new agreements will make it easier for solution providers to offer server virtualization technology to their small and midsize business customers. "A lot of whitebox VARs sell to SMBs," he said.ChannelWeb
