It seems someone thought Dutch crown prince Willem-Alexander and Maxima Zorreguieta shouldn't be joined--and let it be known 186 million times in the first minutes of an online chat with the newlyweds-to-be. That's 11.6 hits for each of the 16 million men, women, and children in the Netherlands.
The Jan. 23 chat's first minute alone drew 126 million bogus page requests, says a spokesman for network operator Royal KPN. Both KPN and Dutch prosecutors claim that it was hackers who annulled the chat session, and the prosecutors are investigating.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility. Oh, and don't toss out those invitations: The Feb. 2 royal wedding is still on.
