The National Football League's Baltimore Ravens last week punted their 3-year-old partnership with PSINet and will strip the name of the bankrupt ISP pioneer from their stadium. With its naming rights thrown for a permanent loss, PSINet will get a $5.9 million partial refund of the down payment it made on the 20-year, $105 million naming-rights contract.

The Ravens already have several nibbles in what they expect to be "aggressive" competition for the stadium-naming rights, team president David Modell says.

The game plan calls for the 2001 Super Bowl champs to pay for removal of the purple neon PSINet sign from the stadium and from all other promotional materials, including cups and napkins.
