After an initial push for voice-based access gave way to more feasible text-based technologies, mobile Internet services now are rediscovering voice. As of Tuesday, more than 15 million AT&T Wireless customers can access Internet-based information through AT&T's #121 service simply by talking into their phone.

Powered by Tellme Networks' voice-recognition software, #121 lets customers access driving directions, movie listings, stock quotes, news updates, or weather within the AT&T Wireless network by dialing #121 on their handsets. The system, which the company says is available at no additional charge beyond standard usage fees, can be customized to each user.
