The Magnitude 3D 1000m is touted as easily transportable in case of emergency.
Xiotech Corp. today unveiled the Magnitude 3D 1000m mobile storage area network (SAN) specifically designed for government organizations.
The vendor said the mobile SAN is very transportable and can be easily re-located in the event of emergency, "continuity of operations" being a big requirement among government users these days. Xiotech also said the Magnitude 3D 1000m can be used as a mobile field lab for the collection and analysis of digital evidence.
The new Xiotech gear features all the storage, SAN, Ethernet and gateway capabilities needed for data collection and analysis, and draws on the vendor's Magnitude 3D fixed SAN product line. Its low learning curve means it can be operational in minutes, and can relocate just as quickly, according to Xiotech.
The Magnitude 3D 1000m is available now; pricing is dependent on configuration, but Xiotech did say that a system with 6 terabytes of storage, a Fibre Channel switch, Ethernet switch and gateway servers, along with transport cases, slide-out keyboard, mouse, flip-up LCD display, and management software would cost around $250,000.
