Yahoo Inc. on Tuesday said it has licensed its brand to Diamond Electronics for use on some of its consumer products.

The Yahoo name will appear on some models of the manufacturer's DVD players and home theater systems, a spokeswoman for the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based, web portal said.

Yahoo has licensed its brand before for consumer electronic devices, such as digital cameras and keyboards, the spokeswoman said.

"It a longstanding, overall marketing strategy to extend the use of the Yahoo brand to offline products that make sense to the Yahoo audience," she said.

The Diamond Electronics products have been available online since September. The products are sold through several retailers, including Best Buy Co. Inc., Target Corp. and J.C. Penney Company Inc., the spokeswoman said.

Yahoo did not disclose financial details.
